Applications are now open for the September 2026 cohort of Kohlrabi’s PhD Accelerator Programme.

The PhD Accelerator is a 12-week, practice-based programme designed for doctoral researchers who want to move beyond academia and apply their research skills in real-world contexts. It is built for those looking to develop the confidence, clarity, and experience needed to work in consultancy, industry, or other applied research roles.

Throughout the programme, participants move beyond theory and into practice. You will learn how to translate academic methods into client-facing work, balance rigour with real-world constraints, and make informed decisions under time and resource pressure. The focus is not only on what to do, but how to do it effectively in professional settings.

A central part of the Accelerator programme is the opportunity to work on a live client project. Working in small teams, you will scope, design, and deliver applied research for real organisations, gaining direct experience of consultancy processes including project planning, stakeholder communication, and delivery.

Alongside this, the programme includes structured training, expert-led sessions, and one-to-one mentoring. This supports you in developing your professional identity, articulating your strengths, and exploring career pathways beyond academia.
